Director
Julie Harrington, Ph.D.

Dr. Harrington holds a doctorate in Economics and an MS in Fisheries from Auburn University, and is the Director of the Center for Economic Forecasting and Analysis (CEFA) at FSU. She has an extensive background in economic, econometric/statistical analysis and natural resources. Her current research interests are directed towards the areas of energy, environmental, aerospace, high tech, economic development, and education economics. She is the Director of the Innovation and Economic Opportunities Office within the Florida Center for Advanced Aero-propulsion (FCAAP) Center of Excellence, with an emphasis on economic impact, marketing, training and outreach, in an effort to increase awareness regarding the fields of aerospace/aviation in Florida. She is a member of the FSU Institute for Energy Systems, Economics and Sustainability (IESES) within the Florida Energy Systems Consortium (FESC) of Florida universities, with a focus on energy economy and policy. She recently served as a member on the “Governor’s Action Team on Energy and Climate Change” on the Cap and Trade (C&T) Technical Working Group. Dr. Harrington also works with econometric/statistical and input-output modeling software (REMI and IMPLAN).

Research Associate
Bassam Awad

Bassam Awad has joined the FSU CEFA since August 2006. He holds an MA degree in Economics from Yarmouk University in Jordan in 1993, MBA degree from the University of Jordan in Jordan in 1997, and MS degree in Economics from Florida State University in 2006. He worked at the Central Bank of Jordan for more than 12 years. His primary area of expertise in CEFA is in economic research in the areas of economic data collection and statistical and econometric analyses. He has also been involved with writing for reports, literature review, presentations, and papers. Bassam was the beta tester on a WITS database - funded by Florida’s Great Northwest. He has a good experience in working with various econometric and statistical packages such as STATA, LaTeX, WinEdt, MATLAB, SPSS, Mathematica and Eviews. He has been using other software packages as well, including MS Office, Scientific Workplace, SPSS, and REMI and IMPLAN. He is currently performing the CEFA website functions using FrontPage and Dreamweaver software. Nowadays, he is working on his PhD dissertation in the field of macroeconomic modeling. His fields of specialization include Macroeconomics, Financial Economics and Econometrics. In his research in CEFA, he is currently working on a three-year project in energy economics.

Assistant Researcher
David Glassner

David Glassner is a current junior at FSU pursuing double majors in Economics and Political Science. He is a Tallahassee local and graduated from Lawton Chiles High School in 2006. While at Chiles he participated in FSU’s International Program for high school students and spent a month in Europe learning about humanities, art and culture while visiting England , France , Germany , Austria , the Czech Republic and Italy . He enrolled in the International Program again in the Fall of 2007 to spend a semester in the Republic of Panama . David is currently working in conjunction with the Tallahassee EDC on an economic analysis of the Aviation, Aerospace, Defense & National Security firms in Gadsden, Jefferson , Leon and Wakulla counties.

Researcher
Zafar Siddiqui

Zafar Siddiqui is currently pursuing his PhD in Economics at Florida State University. He is an electrical engineer by graduation and later completed his MBA from Cardiff Business School, UK as a British Chevening Scholar. In 2004-05, he spent a year in Switzerland with World Trade Institute, Bern studying and doing research on International Law and Economics through a program funded by the World Bank. In 2007 he won the prestigious Fulbright Fellowship to pursue his PhD in Economics. His current research interests are in macroeconomic modeling and law and economics. Presently, he is working on a publication on traditional law and its economics. At CEFA, his assignments include economic modeling and project based research.
