The Program Mission The program is designed to conduct interdisciplinary research that brings economic theory into the study of neuroscience and incorporates findings from neuroscience into economic theory and modeling. The qualitative methods include surveys, focus groups and interviews. The quantitative methods include the recently developed device called functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). For that matter, a key mission of the program is to develop and use experimental methods from the cognitive neurosciences in order to help us better understand the connection between neural activities and economic behaviors. In supporting this mission, the program has access to fMRI device located at UF Cognitive Neuroscience Lab.

Neuroeconomics is an emerging interdisciplinary field combining research
efforts in cognitive neuroscience and experimental economics. The field
pursues an integrative approach connecting psychological, economic, and
neuroscientific perspectives. Particularly, with growth of functional
neuroimaging, researchers are able to measure brain activation associated
with discrete cognitive events like decision making, pain and pleasure.
Currently, many top universities including Duke, NYU, ....
